The fact of the matter is as people age, their skin ages too, and naturally tattoos fade and age with the skin.  So, if people want their tattoos to look good for as long as possible, they have to take care of their skin and at the same time their tattoo.

Most common reasons for tattoos fading are:

1. Excessive sun exposure

2. Failure to properly care for tattoo during healing process

3. Amateur tattoos or tattoo artist did not apply the pigment correctly using a steady hand

The most common reason for fading colors is ultraviolet light, especially sunlight.

Recently, the resurgence in tattoo popularity and body piercing has many minds dismissing tattoo fixation as another fashion trend.  While others disagree with the notion that tattoos will become a fading fad, given the fact the tattoo ink is somewhat of a permanent accessory considering it is etched into the skin and all.

Ironically, the confusion over tattoos seems to stem from the individuals having tattoos and how they regard their own ink.

For a large majority of those with tattoos, one moment they view their tattoos as creative, decorative body “art” while the next minute they defend their tattoos as being significant works of internal self-preservation and expression.  So which are they… are their tattoos “immaterial” fashion wares or inner substance outerwear?

The true design of fashion is that it is forever fleeting.  So if fashion is not forever, and tattoos are forever “forever”, then tattoos surely cannot be a mere fashion fad, or can they?
